Interconnect Channel-Wide Modeling Simulation and Simplification

This European Microwave Week (EuMW) presentation replay shows how 3D encrypted models in Clarity 3D FEM Solver allowed Samtec connector IP to be used in a “fully mated” simulation model of an entire high-speed connector/PCB interface. In order to accurately capture EM effects in end-to-end simulations of high-speed designs, the fully mated (connector and PCB interface) approach is necessary to capture the interaction between the PCB and interconnect for detection of potential resonances and shifts in performance. The talk compares simulation results for an end-to-end multi-pin 112GBps PAM4 channel simulation obtained with a fully mated model versus results from using individual cascaded connector/PCB S-parameter blocks.
