Cadence University Program

Innovation Begins with Education

Cadence is a pivotal leader in electronic systems design, building upon more than 30 years of computational software expertise. We apply our underlying Intelligent System Design strategy to deliver software, hardware, and IP that turn design concepts into reality. Our customers are the world’s most innovative companies, delivering extraordinary electronic products from chips to boards to complete systems for the most dynamic market applications including hyperscale computing, 5G communications, automotive, mobile, aerospace, consumer, industrial, and healthcare.

Universities around the world have access to industry-grade Cadence software to teach students how to solve complex technical challenges while creating ICs, packages, PCBs, and complete systems.

Today’s students are the next generation of innovators

The Cadence Academic Network is a group of universities, professors, Cadence technology experts, and industry advisors who facilitate the exchange of engineering knowledge among academic communities and companies in the electronics and semiconductor industry. Cadence has partnered with universities, academic institutions, and government organizations around the globe to prepare the next generation of innovators (your students!) with the tools and training they need to thrive in the competitive semiconductor and electronics marketplace.

Cadence University Program

Cultivating future engineers around the world

With Cadence software readily available for classroom teaching and fundamental research through the Cadence University Program, you can train students on the latest techniques using leading-edge technology. Students can be at the forefront of electronic research and innovations that are making a global impact.

In addition to our tools, we provide the following support through our Cadence University Program:

  • Education Kits: Enrich your lectures by incorporating the education kits, which include lecture slides and lab exercises, developed by the Academic Network in partnership with professors and business groups. Learn more
  • Online Support: Cadence online support provides access to resources such as application notes, product manuals, a solutions database, white papers, and training videos.
  • RAKs: Rapid adoption kits (RAKs) are collateral packages for a product area or flow and are designed to help you learn to use the tools as quickly and efficiently as possible. The packages include a hands-on workshop database with a step-by-step manual, so you can dive right in and start innovating. RAKs are easy to set up, let you move at your own pace, and can even serve as a skeleton for lab exercises.
  • Generic PDKs: Process design kits (PDKs) are complete sets of building blocks that are critical for any custom IC design. The elements of a PDK standard cell reference library are schematic device symbols, simulation support structures, parameterized cell (Pcell) layouts, tool technology files, and physical verification rule decks.
  • Training Bytes: Our short 10- to 20-minute Training Byte videos cover a variety of Cadence tools.
  • Online Training: The Cadence University Program gives access to the same online training courses as Cadence customers at no additional cost. After passing one of our popular courses, you can earn a digital badge to showcase your Cadence knowledge and expertise. Learn more training.
