Course Description
For classroom delivery, this course is taught as half day session (4 hours).
This course is part of the Virtuoso Spectre Pro series. It is an advanced class offering and part of the Engineer Explorer series. You use the Spectre Circuit Simulator and its corresponding options to analyze results from AC, transfer function (XF), Stability (STB) and Noise analyses. You use the Analog Design Environment to set up and run simulations on circuit examples. The course enables you to differentiate between AC and XF analyses. You perform single-ended and differential stability analyses and learn to print out a comprehensive noise summary after running noise analyses.
Learning Objectives
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Effectively apply the Spectre AC analysis algorithm.
- Form and solve the Spectre AC analysis matrix.
- Set up rapid IP2/IP3 simulations.
- Interpret the distortion summaries.
- Differentiate between AC and XF analyses.
- Discover when to use XF in combination with AC and STB to get a complete picture of your circuit.
- Run and verify a stability analysis.
- Place the iprobe or diffstbprobe in your circuit.
- Compare traditional feedback theory with simulation results.
- Set up and run a noise analysis.
- Analyze noise analysis results and print the noise summary.
