What is in Allegro PCB Design?

The Allegro PCB Design suite provides the capabilities to accelerate your schematics, improve PCB layout designs, and analyze your design with PSpice. Historic PCB design capabilities have been tried and tested in the industry across a wide range of requirements from miniaturized IoT circuits to large supercomputers. PSpice analysis continues to be the industry gold-standard for SPICE-based analysis.

Circuit Analysis

PSpice Designer Plus

If you're analyzing a circuit with PSpice, then select PSpice Designer Plus to design the circuit, simulate it and view the results. PSpice Designer Plus is the cockpit for the simulation flow for PSpice.

PSpice combines industry-leading, native analog, mixed-signal, and analysis engines to deliver a complete simulation and verification solution.

PSpice AD Waveform Viewer

If you're an advanced user of PSpice, and are comfortable directly accessing PSpice, then invoke PSpice AD Waveform Viewer. Here, you can view and analyze results, update simulation settings, and other advanced steps.

For new users, it is advisable to start with using the PSpice Designer Plus as the entry point for PSpice analysis and to use PSpice AD Waveform Viewer once you are comfortable with the environment.

PCB Design

Allegro System Capture (Schematic)

If you're designing a board, then select Allegro System Capture for the schematic entry if you're unsure of which schematic entry tool to use. Also select Allegro System Capture if you require one of its capabilities such as Component Electrical Overstress Analysis.

Allegro System Capture is the new schematic capture tool from Cadence with improved capabilities over OrCAD Capture. Allegro System Capture is intuitive to use, and seamlessly integrates with the Allegro PCB Layout product.

OrCAD Capture CIS (Schematic)

If you're designing a board, select OrCAD Capture CIS (aka Allegro Design Entry CIS) for the schematic entry if you feel more comfortable with it, or if you have a design based on OrCAD Capture that you'd like to import in to continue work on.

OrCAD Capture is one of the most widely used schematic design solutions for the creation and documentation of electrical circuits in the industry. It has been the traditional schematic capture tool from Cadence, and has been an industry standard for decades.

Allegro PCB Designer

If you're designing a board, select the Allegro PCB Designer for the layout of the PCB. Allegro PCB Designer provides a complete placement and routing environment for simple to complex PCB designs.

Allegro PCB Designer integrates capabilities such as high-speed constraints, a comprehensive rule suite of checks for fabrication (DFF) / assembly (DFA) / testing (DFT) to eliminate unnecessary iterations of your board. It also integrates features such as dynamic copper pour plowing and healing to maximize productivity.
