Key Benefits
- Proven track record means you can move to the cloud with confidence
- Rigorous technical validation ensures end-to-end security and reliability
- Faster time to market for mutual customers
Cadence has over ten years of experience hosting design environments for semiconductor customers from startups to Fortune 500 companies. With the Cadence Managed Cloud Service offering, we offer a patented, production-proven, managed cloud design environment with high-performance computing (HPC) optimized for electronic design automation (EDA) workloads. By working with leading public cloud providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cadence is investing in EDA-optimized solutions that accelerate our customers’ journey to the cloud.
Cadence was the first major EDA company to register with the AWS Partner Network. Now, we are the first major EDA company to certify for the Product Design sub-vertical of the Manufacturing and Industrial Competency. To receive this competency, we not only demonstrated proven customer success in providing product design applications and services, but we underwent rigorous technical validation related to industry-specific technology for security, reliability, and operational excellence. The Cadence Managed Service Offering has been certified to be secure, well-architected, and built for customer success by following industry best practices and methodologies.
Customer Success Story: Analog Inference
The Problem
Analog Inference is a startup that was looking to create its first generation of neural computing products. Analog Inference had limited resources and staff to invest in creating and managing a design environment but needed rapid access to reliable infrastructure that would be able to ramp up later during crunch time. Ultimately, the Analog Inference team needed a solution that would accelerate their product development, while reducing the workload of starting a new company.
The Solution
Cadence consulted with Analog Inference to recommend the Cadence Managed Cloud Service offering, a turnkey, EDA-optimized, cloud design environment built on AWS. The Managed Cloud Service utilizes infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) from AWS, in addition to third-party security services, to deliver a secure HPC environment tuned for EDA workloads that can dynamically scale up and down when needed.
The Result
Through Cadence’s Managed Cloud Service, Analog Inference gained convenient access to finely tuned cloud infrastructure without the CapEx or staffing overhead of creating an on-premises data center. Analog Inference was able to offload the entire creation and support of its design environment, and instead focus entirely on innovating its first line of products. Cadence helped reduce the workload associated with starting a new company, and the team experienced limited downtime and will be able to ramp compute up as their resource demands become more challenging over the course of their design.
Case Study: IDEX
IDEX is a leading developer of advanced off-chip fingerprint sensors and complete system solutions to a range of biometrically enabled applications, including smart cards, internet of things (IoT), and mobile. The company wanted to move from outsourcing designs to their ASIC partner to designing in-house with a customer-owned tooling (COT) flow. However, past experience showed they would need at least two full-time resources to maintain the computing infrastructure and CAD tools. Also, good Linux admins are hard to find, and good CAD engineers are even harder to find. IDEX needed a way to outsource the CAD infrastructure so they could focus on their core competency—designing great biometric sensors.
The Managed Cloud Service, first maintained by Cadence and later by AWS, was the solution they needed. By using the production-proven solution, IDEX was able to provision optimized computing assets and Cadence tools quickly and easily. The solution was also easy to scale up and scale down as project needs changed.
